Title 15 › Chapter 67— ARCTIC RESEARCH AND POLICY › § 4107
The Interagency Committee must guide and coordinate Arctic research across federal, state, local, university, and private groups. It must survey existing research to set priorities across natural, physical, biological, and social sciences; work with the Commission to create an integrated national Arctic research policy and a 5-year plan; consult with the Commission about the policy, agency programs, the Commission’s recommendations, and rules for research grants; put together a single multiagency budget request; encourage cooperation with state and local governments, Alaska’s Governor, and other nations (under the Secretary of State’s foreign policy guidance); plan logistics and share data as allowed under section 552 of title 5; and give public notice of meetings so people can take part. By January 31, 1986, and every two years after that, the Committee must send Congress, through the President, a short report listing its activities and accomplishments and detailing the Commission’s recommendations and how they were handled.
