Title 15 › Chapter 2— FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION; PROMOTION OF EXPORT TRADE AND PREVENTION OF UNFAIR METHODS OF COMPETITION › Subchapter IV— LABELING OF FUR PRODUCTS › § 69d
Imported fur products must have labels that meet the rules in section 69b. Invoices for imported furs required by the Tariff Act of 1930 must also include the information called for in section 69c(b). That information must be put on the invoices before the invoices are certified under the Tariff Act. If someone lies or leaves out that information on the invoices, or lies in the consignee’s declaration about that information, the act is treated as an unfair or deceptive business practice under the Federal Trade Commission Act. The FTC may bar that person from importing or taking part in importing furs into the United States unless they post a bond with the Secretary of the Treasury equal to twice the value of the furs and any duties. The Secretary of the Treasury may also require a verified statement from the manufacturer, producer, or dealer showing the required information.
