Title 25 › Chapter 32B— SAFEGUARD TRIBAL OBJECTS OF PATRIMONY › § 3075
The Secretary must choose a coordinating office to put together an interagency working group with representatives from the Departments of the Interior, Justice, State, and Homeland Security. The group's job is to help return items taken illegally to Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations, and to protect tangible cultural heritage, cultural items, and archaeological resources those groups still hold. It must also improve how Federal agencies carry out the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (25 U.S.C. 3001 et seq.), the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979 (16 U.S.C. 470aa et seq.), and other related laws. The group must help with voluntary returns under section 3074, stop international sales of items banned by Federal law, and work with the Native working group under section 3076(a), the review committee under section 8(a) of NAGPRA (25 U.S.C. 3006(a)), the Cultural Heritage Coordinating Committee created by the Protect and Preserve International Cultural Property Act (Public Law 114–151; 19 U.S.C. 2601 note), and other relevant committees.
