Certain acts involving firearms covered by the National Firearms Act are federal crimes. It is unlawful to deal in, make, or import these firearms without paying the required occupational tax and registering; to receive or possess a firearm that is not registered to you in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record; to transfer, make, or possess a firearm in violation of the chapter's rules; to remove, alter, or obliterate a serial number, or possess a firearm with an altered or missing serial number; to ship an unregistered firearm across state lines; to possess a firearm illegally imported; or to knowingly make a false entry on any required application, return, or record.
