To be treated as the official inaugural committee, a group must follow two rules. Within 90 days after the presidential inaugural ceremony, it must file a report with the Federal Election Commission listing any donations (money or things) that add up to $200 or more. Each report must show the amount, the date received, and the donor’s name and address. The group also must not accept donations from foreign nationals.
