Title 42 › Chapter 134— ENERGY POLICY › Subchapter III— AVAILABILITY AND USE OF REPLACEMENT FUELS, ALTERNATIVE FUELS, AND ALTERNATIVE FUELED PRIVATE VEHICLES › § 13256
By March 1, 1995 and March 1, 1997, the Secretary must prepare and send a technical and policy analysis to the President and to Congress. The Secretary must use the Energy Information Administration and other DOE offices and base the work on the best data available under section 13253 and on experience with replacement fuels and alternative fueled vehicles. The analysis must review progress on the goals in section 13252(b)(2) as modified under section 13254, look at how replacement fuels and alternative fueled vehicles can reduce U.S. reliance on imported oil, and report on the availability of domestic replacement fuels and both dedicated and dual‑fuel vehicles. A draft must be published in the Federal Register for public comment before it is sent, and those comments must be kept for use in rulemaking under section 13257.
