Summary

Authorizes $30,000,000 to be appropriated for fiscal year 2001 to carry out this part, and whatever sums are needed for fiscal years 2002 through 2007. After each Center named in section 15062(a) gets at least $500,000, the Secretary must set aside the rest of the yearly funds for the training programs in section 15063(b). The Secretary also must reserve money for technical assistance under section 15063(c) (except subsection (c)(4)). If the year is a "covered year," the Secretary follows the reserve rules in section 15083(c). If it is not a covered year, the Secretary must reserve at least $300,000 and no more than 2% of the paragraph (1) appropriation for that technical assistance. "Covered year" means a fiscal year before the first year when paragraph (1) funding reaches at least $20,000,000. For peer review and related work, the Secretary may not use more than $300,000 of the subsection (a) funds in fiscal year 2001. In later years, the Secretary may not spend more on peer review than the FY2001 amount increased only if the Consumer Price Index shows an increase.
