Title 48 › CHAPTER 18 — MICRONESIA, MARSHALL ISLANDS, AND PALAU › SUBCHAPTER II — PALAU › Part B — Implementation of Compact › § 1951
Authorizes the Compact of Free Association between the United States and Palau to go into effect, even though another law said otherwise. It can only happen if Palau approves the Compact in a referendum by the required percentage of votes under Palau’s Constitution and that approval is not legally challenged. It also must wait 30 days (during which either the House or the Senate is in session) after the President notifies the House Committees on Interior and Insular Affairs and Foreign Affairs and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Compact’s effective date.
