OPM can suspend or revoke an agency’s authority to classify jobs and grades if the agency is not following published standards. It can require OPM approval before changes affect pay. The restriction may cover agency parts, areas or units, action types, job groups, grades, or jobs without published standards. OPM can restore authority when satisfied future classifications will follow published standards.
