Defines key words for the chapter. employee: someone defined as an employee in section 8901(1), plus employees of the District of Columbia courts. annuitant, member of family, dependent: their meanings come from paragraphs (3), (5), and (9) of section 8901. eligible individual: a person described in paragraph (1), (2), or (8), whether or not they are enrolled in a health plan under chapter 89. Office: the Office of Personnel Management. qualified company: a company (or group of companies or an employee organization under section 8901(8)) that offers indemnity, PPO, HMO, or discount vision programs and is licensed where needed. employee organization: a national employee association or one open to all agency employees eligible under chapter 89. State: includes the District of Columbia. A covered TRICARE-eligible individual is someone entitled to care under chapter 55 of title 10 through sections 1076d, 1076e, 1079(a), 1086(c), or 1086(d), except for those covered by section 1110b of title 10. The Secretary of Defense must make an agreement with the Director of the Office to decide which of those people should be eligible under this chapter.
