Title 5 › Part III— EMPLOYEES › Subpart G— Insurance and Annuities › Chapter 89B— ENHANCED VISION BENEFITS › § 8986
Eligible workers can sign up for vision coverage just for themselves, for themselves plus one person, or for themselves and their family. If both spouses are eligible, only one spouse may choose the "plus one" or "family" option. A person cannot be signed up twice — for example, as an employee and also as a family member. The Office in charge will make rules about how to enroll and how to change your type of coverage. You may cancel or move your enrollment to a different plan before a contract term starts when rates or benefits change, a new plan appears, or a plan ends, and at other times the Office allows. If you transfer, the new plan’s waiting periods apply. If an employee or a covered TRICARE-eligible person is furloughed or works without pay because of a funding lapse, their vision coverage keeps going and cannot be ended for missed premium payments caused by that lapse.
