Title 5 › Part III— EMPLOYEES › Subpart G— Insurance and Annuities › Chapter 89A— ENHANCED DENTAL BENEFITS › § 8956
You may enroll in a dental plan as self-only, self plus one, or self and family. If both spouses are eligible, only one may sign up for self plus one or self and family. You cannot be enrolled twice. The Office must write rules for how to enroll and how to change those coverage choices. The rules must allow canceling or switching plans before a contract term that changes rates or benefits, when a plan starts or ends, or at other times the Office allows; transfers follow the new plan’s waiting periods. If an enrolled employee or covered TRICARE-eligible person is furloughed or must work without pay because of a lapse in appropriations, their dental coverage continues and cannot be canceled for missed premiums during that lapse.
