Float Glass Probe Postponed: More Time for China and Malaysia Fairness Check

Published Date: 4/17/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. is taking more time to decide if float glass from China and Malaysia is being sold unfairly cheap. This delay helps make sure the investigation is thorough and fair, affecting companies importing or selling this glass. The new deadline for the first decision is now later than originally planned, so everyone gets a bit more time before any money-related actions kick in.

Preliminary Determinations Delayed to July 9, 2025

The Department of Commerce postponed the preliminary less-than-fair-value determinations for float glass from the People’s Republic of China and Malaysia from May 20, 2025 to July 9, 2025 — a 50-day extension to the 190-day deadline after the investigations began. Commerce also states that final determinations will remain due 75 days after the preliminary determinations unless postponed later.

Petitioner Granted More Time to Submit Rebuttal

On March 31, 2025, the petitioner (Vitro Flat Glass, LLC and Vitro Meadville Flat Glass, LLC) requested a postponement so Commerce has sufficient time to review questionnaire responses and the petitioner can submit rebuttal factual information or comment on adequacy of responses. Commerce granted the timely request under the Tariff Act, enabling the petitioner additional time before the preliminary determinations due July 9, 2025.
