More Park Police in Washington, D.C.

Starting August 25, 2025, the National Park Service is ordered to hire additional United States Park Police in the District of Columbia, subject to available funding. The Park Police will enforce all applicable laws within their jurisdiction, including the Code of the District of Columbia, to help keep public areas safer and more orderly.

More Prosecutors for Violent and Property Crimes

Beginning August 25, 2025, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia shall hire additional prosecutors, subject to available funding, to focus on prosecuting violent and property crimes. This aims to increase criminal prosecutions in the District of Columbia to address violence and disorder.

Specialized Federal Unit for DC Public Safety

Federal law enforcement agencies that are members of the Task Force shall, subject to available funding, immediately create, train, staff, and equip a specialized unit dedicated to public safety and order in the Nation's capital that can be deployed when necessary and, subject to law, to other cities. These units are intended to be ready to ensure public safety and order in the District of Columbia.

DC National Guard Public Safety Unit and Deputization

The Secretary of Defense shall immediately create, train, staff, and equip a specialized unit within the District of Columbia National Guard, subject to activation under Title 32, that is dedicated to ensuring public safety in the Nation's capital; as appropriate, members may be deputized by the Attorney General, Secretary of the Interior, and Secretary of Homeland Security to enforce Federal law. This action is to make additional National Guard resources available for DC public-safety duties.

National Guard Resourced for Rapid Nationwide Response

The Secretary of Defense shall ensure each State's Army and Air National Guard are resourced, trained, organized, and available to assist in quelling civil disturbances and ensuring public safety whenever needed, and shall ensure a standing National Guard quick reaction force is available for rapid nationwide deployment. These actions are directed to take place immediately, subject to law and funding.

HUD Investigations of Landlords and DCHA Safety Obligations

The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall investigate non-compliance with crime-prevention and safety requirements of HUD agreements by the District of Columbia Housing Authority or any landlord in the District of Columbia and may refer findings to the Attorney General and law enforcement. These investigations concern obligations to maintain safe, decent, and sanitary conditions and to address tenant criminal activity that threatens safety.

Online Recruitment Portal for Law Enforcement Applicants

The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force will establish an online portal for Americans with law enforcement or other relevant backgrounds to apply to join Federal law enforcement entities to support the District of Columbia. The portal is intended to recruit personnel to assist with the policy goals set out in the August 11 and August 25, 2025 Orders.

Transit Safety Inspections in D.C.

The Secretary of Transportation shall conduct additional inspections, audits, and examinations of federally-funded transit services in the District of Columbia to determine whether conditions endanger transit workers and take appropriate remedial action within the Department's authority. This is aimed at improving safety for transit workers and potentially riders in DC.
