25% tariff on autos and parts (dates)

The Automobile Proclamation imposed a 25 percent tariff on certain automobile imports effective April 3, 2025, and a 25 percent tariff on certain automobile parts effective May 3, 2025.

Four annual two‑week submission windows

If you are a domestic producer of automobiles or auto parts, or an industry association, you may submit requests to have additional auto parts included under the Section 232 tariffs only during two‑week submission windows that the International Trade Administration will open four times each year. Submissions must be PDF emailed to the specified ITA address, and if a filing is incomplete the requester may be given a 48‑hour window to correct it at the Under Secretary's discretion.

60‑day decision timetable for inclusion requests

When the Secretary receives a properly filed inclusion request from a domestic producer or industry association, the Secretary, after consulting the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, is to issue a determination about including the articles within 60 days of receiving the request.
