OHS Tribal Consultation Meeting

The Office of Head Start will hold a Tribal Consultation session on June 18, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. PT at the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa, 3050 Bristol Street, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. The meeting is for elected or appointed leaders of tribal governments operating Head Start and Early Head Start programs to discuss funding allocations, distribution formulas, and other issues affecting service delivery.

Participation and Submission Deadlines

Tribal designees must have a letter from their tribal government authorizing representation and must submit that designee letter at least 3 days before the June 18, 2026 session to OHS at the provided email. Tribes may submit written testimony before the consultation session or within 30 days after the meeting, and OHS will publish a detailed report within 45 days of the session.

Observers and Report Publication

Other representatives of tribal organizations and Native nonprofit organizations are welcome to attend the June 18, 2026 consultation as observers. OHS will summarize oral testimony and comments in a report that lists topics of concern and recommendations and make that report available to all tribal governments receiving Head Start funds within 45 days.
