The Bureau of Land Management is officially filing new land survey maps for several areas in Alaska to help manage public lands better. If you disagree with any of these surveys, you have until June 1, 2026, to file a protest. Copies of the maps are available for free viewing or purchase in Anchorage, so landowners and local folks should check them out soon!

Deadline to Protest: June 1, 2026
If you disagree with one or more plats, you must file a written notice of protest with the BLM State Director in Anchorage so it is received by June 1, 2026. A protest may be mailed to BLM, 222 West 7th Avenue, Mailstop 13, Anchorage, AK 99513 or delivered in person to the BLM Alaska Public Information Center.
How Protests Affect Filing and Deadlines
If a protest is received before the scheduled official filing date, the official filing of that plat will be stayed until the protest is resolved. A written statement of reasons must be filed within 30 calendar days after the notice of protest is filed if it was not included with the notice.

The new land survey plats are available for free viewing at the BLM Alaska Public Information Center, Fitzgerald Federal Building, 222 West 7th Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska. You may also buy copies from the BLM Alaska Public Information Center at 222 W 7th Avenue, Mailstop 13, Anchorage, AK 99513.

Documents you submit with a notice of protest, including your address, phone, or email, may be made publicly available. You can ask the BLM to withhold personally identifiable information, but the agency does not guarantee it can do so.
Specific Plats and Acceptance Dates Listed
The notice lists specific U.S. Survey numbers and their acceptance dates for Copper River, Kateel River, and Seward Meridians (for example, U.S. Survey No. 14652 accepted December 23, 2025; U.S. Survey No. 14688 accepted February 25, 2026; and others). These identified surveys are the ones scheduled for official filing.
