Commercial Vessels May Request Transit

Boaters Blocked From Potomac Zone
From 6 a.m. on July 2, 2026 until 6 a.m. on July 5, 2026, entry into or remaining in the specified Potomac River, Tidal Basin, and adjacent waters security zone is prohibited unless you are authorized by the Captain of the Port. If you plan to be on the water in Washington, DC during those dates, expect to be turned away unless you have permission.
Berth and Public Vessels Can Stay
Public vessels and vessels already at berth when the security zone starts do not have to leave the regulated area during the enforcement period. Vessel operators who are already docked at the start of the zone will be allowed to remain in place.
