From 6 a.m. on June 24, 2026 through 6 a.m. on July 6, 2026, you may not enter within 100 yards of any vessel used to load, transit, or set up the Salute to America 250 fireworks show on the Potomac River (barges loaded in Woodbridge, VA, and moved to show locations). The safety zones move with the vessels and entry is prohibited unless the Captain of the Port or a designated representative specifically authorizes you to enter.
Full Closure on Anacostia Between Bridges
During the enforcement period you may not enter the Anacostia River waters between the Frederick Douglass Bridge and the 11th Street Bridge unless the Captain of the Port or their designated representative authorizes you. This closure applies for the same enforcement window: from 6 a.m. on June 24, 2026 through 6 a.m. on July 6, 2026.
How to Request Authorization to Enter
If you need permission to enter a safety zone during the enforcement period, contact the Captain of the Port or the COTP's designated representative on VHF‑FM channel 16 or by telephone at (251) 266-1234. Authorization must come from the COTP or their designated representative to lawfully enter the zones.
