Communities must adopt NFIP flood measures

FEMA states the FIRMs and FIS reports are the basis for floodplain management measures that a community is required to adopt or to show evidence of having an effect in order to qualify or remain qualified for participation in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This requirement applies to the communities listed (Calhoun, Grenada, Yalobusha Counties in Mississippi and Whitman County, Washington) and is tied to the finalized flood hazard information effective December 23, 2026.

Final flood maps effective Dec 23, 2026
