Sponsored By: Representative González-Colón, Jenniffer [R-PR-At Large]

Became Law

Summary

Renames the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations Marine Unit in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico as the Michel O. Maceda Marine Unit. It records Michel O. Maceda's background, including Army service as a wheeled vehicle mechanic, joining the U.S. Border Patrol in April 2016, and serving as a Marine Interdiction Agent with CBP Air and Marine Operations in Mayaguez in 2021. The law recounts the November 17, 2022 interdiction in which he was mortally wounded and identifies his daughter, brother, and parents as survivors. It also requires that all legal and official references to the Cabo Rojo unit use the new name.
