Became Law
Summary
Creates a national commemorative site honoring Holcombe Rucker and Harlem's basketball legacy. It designates Holcombe Rucker Park in Harlem as the Holcombe Rucker Park National Commemorative Site. The Secretary of the Interior may enter cooperative agreements with public or private partners, including the Mayor of New York City, to install a plaque, interpretive exhibit, or other marker with the written consent of the site's owner to memorialize Rucker and the park's role in developing the game and many talented players. The site is explicitly not a unit of the National Park System. The designation preserves local administration and private property rights and does not authorize the federal government to acquire land or override local zoning.
