Summary

The U.S. says some paper plates from Vietnam got unfair government help during 2023. Because of this, extra taxes will be added to these paper plates to keep things fair for U.S. businesses. This means importers and sellers of these plates should expect changes soon, with money impacts starting now.

Countervailing Duties on Vietnam Paper Plates

The U.S. Department of Commerce found that producers and exporters of certain paper plates from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam received countervailable subsidies during January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023. Because of that finding, the agency will impose countervailing duties (extra import taxes) on those paper plates, and the notice includes a final affirmative determination of critical circumstances, in part.
