Chinese Wood Mouldings Hit with New U.S. Duties

Published Date: 2/23/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. Department of Commerce found that Chinese companies making wood mouldings and millwork products got unfair government help in 2023. Because of this, extra taxes (called countervailing duties) will apply to these imports starting February 23, 2026. This means U.S. businesses and shoppers might see changes in prices or availability of these products soon.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.

Final Duty Rates on Chinese Millwork

Commerce found countervailable subsidies for wood mouldings and millwork from China and set company-specific ad valorem countervailing duty rates: Zhejiang Senya Board Industry Co., Ltd. 26.51%, Fujian Yinfeng Imp & Exp Trading Co., Ltd. 20.32%, and a 21.39% rate for the non-selected companies under review. These rates apply to subject imports as of February 23, 2026.

Cash Deposits and Duty Assessments Start

Commerce will instruct U.S. Customs and Border Protection to collect cash deposits of the estimated countervailing duties on shipments of subject merchandise entered or withdrawn for consumption on or after February 23, 2026, and to assess duties on appropriate entries in accordance with the final results. Commerce intends to issue assessment instructions no earlier than 35 days after publication, and if a timely summons is filed, CBP will be directed not to liquidate entries until the 90-day statutory injunction period has expired.

Potential Price and Availability Effects

The final countervailing duties on Chinese millwork products may lead U.S. businesses and shoppers to see changes in prices or availability of these products soon. Because duties and cash deposits apply to imports on or after February 23, 2026, prices for retail buyers or supplies for construction and renovation could be affected.
