Stronger training for nurse aides

Beginning January 1, 2027, Alaska requires nurse aide training programs to meet clear standards. Programs must teach skills that lead to safe, competent care. Training must cover communication, client rights, dignity, and independence. It must teach observing and reporting, care planning, and problem-solving. It must include caring for people with dementia and other cognitive disabilities. It must teach daily living help: eating, dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting.
