Seven food dyes banned in school meals

Beginning January 1, 2028, public schools cannot serve breakfast or lunch with certain food dyes. The rule applies to school-provided meals during the school day for enrolled students. Banned dyes are red 3, red 40, yellow 5, yellow 6, blue 1, blue 2, and green 3. It only covers these seven dyes in foods and drinks served by the school.
