If the U.S. Department of Transportation places all of Alaska in Pacific Standard Time on or before January 1, 2035, Alaska stops using daylight saving time. The state then stays on standard time year-round. This change starts on the federal effective date.
The Legislature must ask the U.S. Department of Transportation to move all of Alaska into Pacific Standard Time. The request follows the federal process under the Uniform Time Act of 1966. This section takes effect immediately and does not change clocks by itself.
