Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Telehealth paid same as in-person care

Beginning January 1, 2027, health insurers must pay for telehealth the same way and at least the same rate as in-person care. This includes behavioral health visits. The rule ties payment to the comparable in-person service. The law also sets one statewide meaning for “health care provider,” so plans use the same definition.

Telehealth parity for public workers

Beginning January 1, 2027, public employee health plans must pay telehealth the same as in-person care. This covers municipal employee plans, group policies bought by the Department of Administration for participating government units, and the self‑insured plan for active state employees. Payment must match comparable in-person services.

Repeals parts of 2022 Alaska law

Beginning January 1, 2027, the law deletes sections 9, 10, 13, and 14 of chapter 38, Session Laws of Alaska 2022. The text here does not list direct money or service changes tied to these repeals.
