Older manufactured home owners can request titles

Beginning January 1, 2027, current owners can request titles for manufactured homes from model year 1999 or earlier. The Alabama Department of Revenue can issue these titles; without an owner's request, these older homes remain ineligible. Existing exclusions remain for modular homes, federally owned homes, and homes held for sale by manufacturers or licensed dealers. Homes owned by nonresidents and located outside Alabama also remain ineligible. Another exclusion covers homes permanently attached to land in Alabama whose title or manufacturer's certificate of origin was canceled. The Department can also name additional categories of manufactured homes that cannot receive titles.
