Full home tax relief for veterans

Starting with the 2026 tax year, Arizona fully exempts a qualifying veteran’s primary home from property tax. The veteran must live in Arizona and have a 100% service-connected disability rating. A home owned jointly with the veteran’s spouse counts as if the veteran owned it alone. A surviving spouse can claim the full exemption on their own primary home if the veteran’s home received it and the spouse does not remarry; other property is not covered.

Income limits set property tax eligibility

Starting with the 2026 tax year, income limits apply to property tax exemptions under this law. The prior year’s income of the claimant, spouse, and resident children must be $34,901 or less, or $41,870 or less if a resident child was under 18 or had a certified total and permanent disability. Social Security, public assistance, unemployment benefits, veterans’ pensions, and some other payments are excluded from the income calculation. The limits are adjusted each year based on the state GDP price deflator.
