The law sets expanded mosquito-control district boundaries entirely within St. Lucie County, excluding land under Martin County's jurisdiction. The boundary description lists about 287,827.904 acres, with the Atlantic Ocean as the eastern boundary. The county's Supervisor of Elections must hold a referendum on November 3, 2026, for qualified voters in the added areas. The expansion takes effect only upon approval by a majority of those voters who cast ballots. Upon approval, the district gains authority to provide all its charter services, including mosquito control, and exercise its charter powers there.
