Okeechobee Utility Authority gets state-owned land

The law requires Florida’s state land trustees to transfer about 406.89 acres in Okeechobee County to the Okeechobee Utility Authority. The authority receives full ownership of the land, not a lease. The law takes effect July 1, 2026, or when it becomes law, whichever is later. The trustees must complete the transfer within 30 days after that effective date. The law does not specify any change in household costs or utility services.
