Trenton faces survey requirement for historic depot

A survey requirement applies if Florida’s Division of Historical Resources finds the Trenton Train Depot qualifies as historic. This means listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, or otherwise historically significant under chapter 267. Trenton must start a cultural resource assessment survey within 90 days after taking title to the property. The survey must follow Florida Administrative Code Rule 1A-46. The city must send the survey plan and resulting report to the Division for review and recordkeeping.

Trenton gains land with public-use limits

Florida’s public land trustees must transfer the specified Nature Coast State Trail property in Gilchrist County to Trenton. The law took effect upon becoming law and requires the transfer within 90 days of that date. Trenton receives full ownership for uses allowed by law, but must manage and protect the land for public purposes. The city must keep public access to and use of the adjacent Nature Coast State Trailhead and its facilities. If Trenton sells or otherwise disposes of the property, ownership returns to the state’s public land trustees.
