Florida vehicle investigation records stay private

The law keeps information from covered Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles investigations and examinations confidential, limiting public access. Protection lasts until the investigation is no longer active, or related administrative action ends or enters a hearing or court case. The department can release information for its official duties or another government agency’s official duties. The law removes the scheduled October 2, 2026 repeal, so these protections no longer expire automatically. It took effect upon becoming law.
