Personalized for You
Personalize government policy and PRIA will tell you what this bill means for your household, plus every other piece of legislation we track. PRIA reads each provision against your financial profile to show you exactly what matters to your wallet.
3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.
Travel insurance sales information must match the policy and explain key limits, including preexisting-condition exclusions. After purchase, materials must explain the coverage and say whether it pays before or after other insurance. You can cancel for a full refund within 15 days after materials are mailed, or 10 days after they are delivered in person or online, if your trip has not started and you have not filed a claim. Sellers cannot add coverage by default or call blanket coverage free. Online sellers may provide a short summary if you can access the full policy electronically.
When a destination requires insurance, the seller can make you choose how to meet that requirement before you buy the trip. You can buy the required coverage through the seller or get compliant coverage elsewhere and show proof before departure. The law does not set the price.
Travel insurance administrators must hold one of the listed Hawaii insurance or administrator licenses. Insurers are responsible for their administrators’ actions and must make records available to the state commissioner on request. Administrators and their employees are exempt from a separate licensing rule for the insurance they administer. Hawaii classifies travel insurance under an insurance category used for rates and policy forms; insurers may use travel plans or sales channels to set eligibility, subject to state standards.
