Hawaii's Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs can run criminal history checks on doctors applying for or renewing a license through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact. The law does not require a check for every applicant. Checks can add a screening step for affected doctors while supporting public protection. The law took effect July 1, 2025.
