4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 3 mixed.
Beginning July 1, 2025, former Idaho license holders skip the knowledge test when applying for a new Class D license. Other licensing requirements still apply.
Beginning July 1, 2025, the fee schedule lists $30 for three-year Class D licenses covering ages 15–18 or 18–21. It lists $20 for a one-year Class D license at age 17 or 20. Eight-year licenses cost $60 for ages 21–63: Class D, or Class A, B, or C with endorsements. The commercial eight-year fee listing now ends at age 63 instead of covering everyone age 21 and older. These listings alone do not show each applicant's cost change or the terms available outside those ages.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho Class D instruction permits last up to one year and cannot be renewed. Drivers still need an adult age 18 or older with the right valid license seated beside them. The fee schedule lists $20 for a Class D instruction permit. It removes supervised instruction permits from that listing. The provided text does not say whether another fee applies to supervised instruction permits.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho motorcycle instruction permits last up to one year and cannot be renewed. Applicants need a valid driver's license, must pass the motorcycle knowledge test, and must pay applicable fees. Passing the motorcycle skills test while the permit is valid waives the motorcycle endorsement fee.
