Idaho protects access to Medicaid care

Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho’s Department of Health and Welfare cannot block eligible providers from delivering Medicaid-covered care. Providers must be licensed or registered in Idaho and work within the scope allowed by their state licensing authority. This protection does not apply when state law or regulation expressly bars that provider type from delivering the service. It also does not apply when the provider lacks a written Medicaid provider agreement. The law does not add covered benefits or set new payment amounts.
