Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho school boards can deny attendance or expel students on broader grounds. These include repeated truancy, ongoing disruption, health or safety risks, and weapons on school property. Certain prior enrollment denials, leaving school instead of facing discipline, and expulsions in Idaho or another state also qualify. Covered convictions or juvenile court findings are grounds for denial, too; parents must disclose them when seeking enrollment or while enrolled. These are offenses listed in Idaho Code 20-525A(5) or title 18, chapters 9, 61, or 66; failure to disclose also permits denial.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho districts can deny school transfers for covered convictions or juvenile court findings. Covered offenses are listed in Idaho Code 20-525A(5) or title 18, chapters 9, 61, or 66. For students already accepted and attending outside their home district, these findings also allow districts to revoke transfer approval. Those students are also barred from applying again through the enrollment-options program.
