Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho sets vaccine requirements for preschool through grade 12. The age-appropriate schedule includes 5 DTaP, 2 hepatitis A, 3 hepatitis B, 2 MMR, 4 polio, and 2 chickenpox doses. Families must provide a signed vaccine record or qualifying proof of immunity from past disease. Seventh graders also need a DTaP booster and one meningococcal dose. Before 12th grade, students first vaccinated against meningococcal disease before age 16 need two total doses. Those first vaccinated at 16 or older, or never vaccinated, need one dose. Minors remain exempt with an Idaho-licensed physician's certificate that vaccination endangers their life or health, or a parent's signed religious or other objection. Adult students can submit their own signed objections, including at public, private, religious, college, and trade schools. Students without required vaccines or an exemption cannot attend until they comply. The state health department may also exclude exempt students during a disease outbreak.
Beginning July 1, 2025, parents must provide vaccine records within 14 days after a child first attends licensed Idaho daycare. A physician, physician's representative, or another licensed health professional must sign the record. It must show age-appropriate DTaP, polio, MMR, Hib, hepatitis B, chickenpox, pneumococcal, rotavirus, and hepatitis A vaccines, or approved proof of prior-disease immunity. Daycares must keep records throughout attendance and for one year afterward. A child is exempt with an Idaho-licensed physician's certificate that vaccination endangers the child's life or health. Parents may also submit a signed religious or other objection. Children without required records, vaccines, or an exemption must be excluded until they comply. The state health department may also exclude exempt children during a disease outbreak.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho's prior daycare and school immunization rules no longer apply; statutory requirements govern instead. The state health department may randomly inspect licensed daycares, with at least 30 days' advance notice. It must give operators written notice of violations. Operators have 30 days after inspection to report that listed violations are fixed. If an operator does not respond, the department must notify the daycare's licensing authority.
