Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho school districts can leave up to 9.5% of funded instructional and pupil service positions unfilled without losing those funded positions. The law removes annual 1-percentage-point cuts to this flexibility for districts with average classes at least one student above the statewide average. Districts with fewer than 20 support units also get an extra half-position instructional staff allowance. They qualify when their instructional staff count exceeds their allowance. This extra allowance comes on top of increases for districts with fewer than 40 support units.
