Beginning July 1, 2026, the law sets aside $200,000 of the appropriation to expand wolf trapping and manage wolf predation. The money comes from the Fish and Game (Other) Fund, and amounts not spent for this purpose return there. The department must report its spending to the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee by June 30, 2027. It must work with the Legislative Services Office's Budget and Policy Analysis Division on the report's format and content.
For July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, Idaho adds $14.1785 million for the Department of Fish and Game. This includes $426,300 for Administration, $9.5022 million for Fisheries, and $4.25 million for Wildlife. The funding covers $13.7522 million in operating expenses and $426,300 in capital spending, using Fish and Game, Other, and Federal funds. The department can also carry over unspent, uncommitted fiscal year 2026 dedicated and federal funds for one-time Administration, Fisheries, Wildlife, and Communications expenses through June 30, 2027. Before processing the carryover, the State Controller must confirm amounts by fund, expense class, and program with the Legislative Services Office.
