Sole job finalist named 10 days early

When there is only one finalist for a non-classified position, the hiring authority must release the name at least 10 business days before the final decision. This applies to boards, commissions, the governor, or another hiring authority.

New rules for hiring university presidents

The Idaho State Board of Education now runs each search for a public university president and gives public updates. The board must form a committee with set members: two board members, two current employees (one faculty), two alumni, one foundation member, and one community member. The committee keeps candidate identities confidential and meets in executive session to review and recommend a finalist. If the board is not satisfied, it can require the committee to keep searching. The final hire must be approved in an open public meeting.
