10-day notice for sole finalist

For jobs outside the classified or merit system, the hiring authority must make public the name of the sole finalist at least 10 business days before the final decision. This applies to hires by a board, commission, the governor, or another hiring authority. The rule gives the public advance notice before the hire is made.

Idaho runs university president searches

The Idaho State Board of Education runs searches for presidents of state colleges and universities. For each search, the board forms a committee with at least: two board members; two employees of the school (one must be faculty); two alumni; one foundation member; and one community member. The committee reviews candidates in closed sessions and keeps candidate names and materials confidential. It recommends a candidate to the board, and the board can tell the committee to keep searching. The board makes the final hire in an open public meeting.
