Under-21 visitors gain access to distilleries

Distilleries gain licenses with sales limits

Beginning July 1, 2026, Idaho distillery owners, operators, and lessees can get a retail liquor license. The distillery must make and bottle liquor on at least five acres of agricultural-zoned land outside incorporated cities. Applicants must meet general licensing qualifications, but qualifying distillery officers, agents, and employees are exempt from the distillery-personnel disqualification. The fee matches a golf course license fee, and the distillery can sell only brands it owns. Qualifying distilleries can hold an interest in licensed premises without serving food cooked there. On-site alcohol sales cannot exceed 50% of the premises’ gross revenue.
