Unspent federal funds reused for veterans homes

Money can be used only for one-time costs. The State Controller must confirm the amounts and expense classes with the Legislative Services Office before processing.

2027 funds and small cut for veterans homes

Beginning July 1, 2026, the state provides $963,600 to the Division of Veterans Services for the year ending June 30, 2027. $743,600 comes from the Veterans Home Endowment Income Fund: $124,800 for operations and $618,800 for buildings. $220,000 comes from a federal grant, all for capital projects. In total, $124,800 is for operating and $838,800 is for capital. The law also cuts $51,000 from federal grant operating funds for the same year.
