Extra $6,000 for each conservation district

The law sets aside $300,000 for soil and water conservation districts in FY 2027. The money is split equally among 50 districts, so each district gets $6,000. This is on top of other state aid allowed by Idaho law. The distribution applies from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

Small boost for conservation reserve enhancement

The law provides $12,900 to support Conservation Reserve Enhancement payments. The Department of Agriculture uses it for trustee and benefit payments for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. This section takes effect on passage due to the emergency clause.

Soil and Water Commission funding moves in 2027

For July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the law cuts $3,982,700 from the Commission’s budget in the Department of Agriculture. At the same time, it gives $4,369,800 to the Department of Water Resources for the same Commission. This shifts funding between departments and results in a small net increase for the Commission in FY 2027. The money covers staff, operations, and capital needs from several state funds.
