Beginning Jan 1, 2020, Illinois resident students can apply for State, local, and public college aid. This includes scholarships, grants, stipends, room and board help, tuition waivers, and other aid. This also covers residents who are not eligible for federal financial aid. Agencies must read eligibility rules to let the most resident students qualify under State law.
Beginning Jan 1, 2020, programs cannot add extra caps on Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants beyond caps in State law. If you are an Illinois resident applying for or getting a MAP grant, this helps protect your grant amount from program-level cuts.
Beginning Jan 1, 2020, the law does not change grade or income rules for State financial aid. You still must meet each program's academic and income limits to get aid.
