Nursing homes must have AEDs and training

The law requires every nursing home to keep an automated external defibrillator (AED) on site. Administrators must set written policies for how and when to use it. People certified to use an AED must complete CPR/AED training that meets American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards and keep current proof. Facilities must maintain the AED and follow the Automated External Defibrillator Act and current medical practice. All facilities must meet these rules by January 1, 2030.
