County boards may choose to display a Missing in Action flag at the courthouse. They can place it on the same flagstaff as the U.S. flag or on a separate staff. This is optional, not required.
County boards must provide a United States flag at each courthouse. The flag must be at least 4 by 8 feet. It must fly from a flagstaff on top of the courthouse or prominently on the grounds. Sheriffs must make sure it is raised from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on every legal holiday, and on other days set by the county board.
