2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Firefighter pensions shielded from creditors

This law protects firefighter pension money from creditors. Courts and creditors cannot garnish, levy, or attach it to pay your debts. This applies before and after the pension board orders payment. The fund is held and used only to pay firefighter pensions and beneficiaries.

Limits on redirecting firefighter pension checks

You cannot transfer or assign your firefighter pension, annuity, refund, or disability payment. That includes using it as collateral or by mortgage. You may, in writing, direct a monthly payment to a fire-service group you belong to or for hospital insurance. This option also applies if your surviving spouse is the affiliated member.
